BEAUTFUL BOY: Timothee Chalemet and Steve Carell [VIDEO]

30 Dec, 2018

“Beautiful Boy” (2018) stars “Call Me by Your Name’s” (2017) Timothee Chalemet and “The Office” (2005-2013), “Fox Catcher” (2014) and “The Big Short’s” (2015) Steve Carell. The film is based on the tragic memoir of father and son David and Nic Sheff, a family struggling with the challenges of drug addiction. We follow the life and journey of a teenage boy played by Chalemet as he attempts to kick his drug habit with the love and support of his father played by Carell. Tragically, no matter the amount of support his family provides, he is trapped by his compulsion to use. Chalamet’s performance is far from bland as he effectively exemplifies the physical and emotional torment of a young man who is out of control. And Carell truly channels the frustrations of a sad and concerned father confronted with a child that is vulnerable to chemical addiction and facing an uphill battle. When we spoke with both actors at the 41st Mill Valley Film Festival, each addressed the horrible challenges and effects of this tragic disease.
